The Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarships is awarded annually to graduates who are living in and are nationals of Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe for the 2022/2023 academic year.

The Beit Trust has partnership arrangements with the universities. This allows the Trust to share expenses, and to increase the number of scholarship awards it can fund. For this reason, only candidates with admissions from the universities listed will be qualified for Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarships. Candidates are required to first apply to, and be accepted by, a Beit Partner University before applying to the Trust for a scholarship award.

Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarships are taken up at a partner university in South Africa or the United Kingdom, for study in a program of the person’s choice suitable to the needs of their nation. Length is typically for a one-year taught Masters in the United Kingdom and two years in South Africa. There are six partner universities in the UK: Edinburgh, Cambridge, Leeds, Glasgow, Oxford, and Strathclyde. There are presently three active partners in South Africa: Stellenbosch, Rhodes, and UCT.

In 2021, the Trust granted 18 new Scholarship awards at British and South African universities, through substantial academic partnerships with foremost institutions. Beit Trust Scholarships are available for Postgraduate degrees only. They do not grant scholarship awards for undergraduate work and their postgraduate focus is on Master’s Degree programs

They do not grant scholarship awards for Ph.D. research ab initio. Only under special circumstances, and for Beit scholars of exceptional merit, will the Trustees give consideration to offering support to Ph.D. level. The Trust does not give consideration to candidates for MBAs.

The subsequent round of Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarships will be granted for the academic session starting September 2022 for universities in the United Kingdom; and January 2023 for universities in South Africa.
